“Konecranes introduced the CXT crane range in 2000, and these products have been sold for the past 24 years. The new generation crane series has a very broad coverage in various industrial sectors, from engineering to forestry. Our expectations are high, because the new crane concept can be offered in a very versatile way, from ordinary engineering to demanding industrial sectors,” says the product’s brand manager. Jussi Luokomaa.
“When it comes to the heart of the crane, the electrical technology and the lifting unit itself, we have developed a new standard for industrial cranes. The crane that moves and transfers the load has been completely redesigned. The product is compact, which means that the approach dimensions are excellent at both ends of the crane. The customer’s operating environment can be maximized.”
The X-Series concept is new in design. The crane hook is designed with safety and ergonomics in mind. The crane is controlled by a new controller with a load display that accurately indicates the crane's use in many different directions, even when moving heavy loads.
“The Konecranes X-Series crane comes with smart features as standard. They increase operator and load safety and shorten operating cycles while speeding up work. Key features include hook control, hook centering and hook anti-snag. In control, the crane operator can grab the hook and control the crane, which follows the movement. The hook does not need to be moved with controls. The crane independently centers the lifting ropes if the ropes are skewed. Anti-snag means that the crane automatically stops the movement if the load collides with something for some reason,” says Luokomaa.
“The crane unit itself is robust and intelligent. The need for parts has been minimized. The structure is strong, it does not bend or strain even under heavy loads. In addition, its expected lifespan is longer than any previous Konecranes product. Due to its compactness, the crane can reach close to end walls and the load can be lifted very high.”
The X-Series crane also has environmentally friendly features. While in previous lifting equipment, large steel plates on the sides of the hoist balanced the hoist, now Konecranes has developed a press roller inside the hoist. This holds the hoist firmly on the main girder, so there is no need for counterweights. The solution saves steel used in the structures. There is also no longer a need for two travel motors to move the hoist, as one motor is sufficient when moving the hoist with a belt drive on the main girder.
"The crane uses bus technology, meaning that the information flow in the crane is via clear and simplified cabling. Bus control makes it possible to update the crane in the future without changing components. At the same time, new features can also be added to the crane without changing the crane technology. This is not possible at the very beginning, but it will be in the future," promises Jussi Luokomaa.
What? Konecranes has launched a new generation of X-Series cranes that utilize cutting-edge technology.
Why? The features of the new crane type increase efficiency and safety, save materials, and increase environmental friendliness.
