Maintenance that is profitable for everyone

A pulp boiler needs to operate smoothly and reliably. More and more often, an external partner is responsible for the maintenance of this and other forest industry equipment. Well planned is half done, even when it comes to outsourcing maintenance.

As technology advances, pulp mill maintenance intervals have become shorter and the focus of process maintenance has shifted from troubleshooting to risk anticipation and management. Mills no longer necessarily need their own maintenance personnel to do this.

Outsourcing can reduce maintenance costs, improve quality, and free up capital. However, it is not automation and requires careful consideration and planning.

Metsä-Botnia has gradually outsourced maintenance to its subcontractor since 1997. Botnia Mill Services, an associated company of YIT and Botnia, is currently responsible for the comprehensive process maintenance and development of all Botnia pulp mills.
